　　Chinese medical device companies are rapidly narrowing the gap with international advanced companies in terms of R&D investment and internationalization of market sales. However, from the perspective of the proportion of China’s medical device industry in the world and the market value of China’s listed medical device companies, there is still a significant gap between China’s medical device industry and the world’s advanced level.

　　This is what the reporter learned from the press conference on the 2017 Blue Book of the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and the 2017 Development Report of the China Medical Materials Association (hereinafter referred to as the Report) held in Beijing on April 15.

　　At the same time, the conference released 13 reports on the development status of the 2017 China Association of Pharmaceutical Materials, including chain pharmacies, party building work, medical devices, Chinese herbal medicines and Chinese herbal decoction pieces, pharmaceutical e-commerce, pharmaceutical credit and branding, and cross-border e-commerce.

　　According to the report, as of November 2017, there were 16,000 medical device manufacturers in China, of which 6,096 were capable of producing first-class products, 9,340 were capable of producing second-class products, and 2,189 were capable of producing third-class products. .

　　According to the sampling survey statistics of the Medical Device Branch of China Medical Materials Association, the sales volume of China’s medical device market in 2017 was about 445 billion yuan, an increase of 75 billion yuan compared with 2016, and the growth rate was about 20.27%

　　According to the report, in 2017, the market scale of my country’s medical device e-commerce is still developing rapidly. With the growing demand for health management by consumers and the growing trend of population aging, blood pressure monitors, blood sugar supplies, oxygen generators, physiotherapy devices, wheelchairs, atomizers, air purifiers and other products are still selling well.

　　In terms of import and export, according to the statistics of China Customs, the total import and export of medical devices in my country in 2017 was 42.06 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.09% year-on-year, and exceeded the 40 billion US dollar mark; device exports reversed the decline in the previous year and showed a moderate upward trend— – It increased by 5.84% year-on-year, and the total export value was 21.703 billion US dollars, reaching a record high.

　　In addition, my country’s medical device exports to countries along the “Belt and Road” account for about 20% of the total exports. Among them, exports to India, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other countries have increased in varying degrees, 7.51%, 5.05%, 1.52%, and 3.86% respectively. In 2017, with the recovery of Russia’s economy, my country’s export of medical devices increased by 5.05% year-on-year, gradually getting out of the trough.

　　According to the analysis of the report, in 2017, in addition to India and Russia, the export of medical devices to other BRICS countries also showed a good situation in full bloom. Among them, the increase in exports to Brazil was as high as 32.72%, and the export value was 394 million US dollars.

　　From the perspective of my country’s medical device export provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), it is mainly concentrated in the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta. The export volume of Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces accounts for 60% of my country’s total export volume.

　　However, the report also pointed out that at present, among the medical device products exported by my country, low-value consumables and low-end products are still the main products, and the industry relies heavily on low-cost factors such as raw materials and labor. The top ten export products, mainly massage health appliances and medical consumable dressings, accounted for 44.5% of my country’s total exports of medical devices.

　　In recent years, my country’s high-end medical device industry has achieved rapid development under the support of the state and the efforts of enterprises, especially the imaging diagnostic equipment has gradually achieved import substitution. However, in the field of large-scale equipment such as CT and MRI, due to the long-term monopoly of the global market by multinational companies, the technical level and comprehensive performance of my country’s high-end products are still far behind developed countries, and the clinical use time is relatively short. The international market recognition is low, the export is still weak, and the road to internationalization is still a long way to go.

　　At the same time, the competition of medical device enterprises in my country is becoming more and more fierce, especially in the export link, the problem of low-price competition is becoming more and more serious, and the trend of relying on price reduction and increase in volume to drive the growth of export value is obvious.
